Mindbody is priced per location through its sales team, sells extras such as a branded app as add-ons, and lists your studio in a marketplace app beside its competitors. What matters

What to look for in a Mindbody alternative

Prices you can see first

Mindbody prices per location, gives plan prices through its sales team, and sells extras as add-ons. Look for a price list you can read before any call and a trial you can start yourself, then work out a year’s cost at your size.

Your own app, not a marketplace

The Mindbody app lists your studio beside every other Mindbody studio nearby, and takes a commission on a new client’s first purchase through it. Look for an app that belongs to your studio, with your timetable, news and chat.

A branded app on any plan

Mindbody’s branded app is an add-on, and only on its higher plans. Check whether the alternative builds one under your name, on which plans and for what, and whether you can start without one.

Community, not just bookings

If your members talk in a WhatsApp group, look for a feed and chat in the app, so the conversation, and the reason to come back, stays with your studio.

Workshops and events in one checkout

Workshops, retreats, teacher trainings and socials bring in money that classes don’t. Check you can sell tickets with member pricing and capacity where members already book.

Direct Debit built in

UK memberships run best on Direct Debit, which doesn’t expire like a card does and usually costs less per payment. Check whether it sits alongside card payments or needs a provider you sign up to separately.

G

Glofox

Glofox is gym management software built mainly for boutique fitness studios and gyms, with class booking, memberships, payments and a branded app. Outside boutique fitness it gets narrow fast: one-off events, in-app community and non-fitness activities are not what it is built for, and pricing only comes through a sales call.

Best for: Studios that only need boutique-fitness workflows.

T

TeamUp

TeamUp is class-management software for gyms, martial arts and fitness businesses, covering scheduling, memberships and payments. Its member side is built for booking rather than community, so members open it to book a class and close it again, and the conversation that keeps them coming back ends up on WhatsApp.

Best for: Businesses that only need a booking system and are happy for their community to live on WhatsApp.

C

ClubRight

ClubRight is UK club and gym management software covering memberships, Direct Debit, bookings and access. It is built for the back office: members get an app for access and bookings, with little in the way of community, events or anything that keeps them engaged.

Best for: Clubs that only need membership records and Direct Debit collection.

G

Gymdesk

Gymdesk is gym and martial arts management software covering memberships, billing, attendance, digital forms and a built-in website builder. Its member-facing side is a booking and account portal rather than a native community app, so members log in to pay and book while the club’s community lives somewhere else.

Best for: Clubs that only need admin and billing, with members on a portal.

G

Gymcatch

Gymcatch is booking and scheduling software used by independent fitness instructors and small studios, handling class booking, payments and simple memberships from a mobile-friendly flow. It is built around booking sessions, so once you need proper memberships, events, community or progression, the work moves into spreadsheets and other apps.

Best for: Solo instructors who only need people to reserve and pay for a session.

W

Wodify

Wodify is gym-management software built for CrossFit boxes and functional fitness, with class booking, memberships, payments and workout and performance tracking. It is built tightly around the CrossFit box, so it is fitness-specific, sales-led on pricing, and heavier than many independent gyms and non-CrossFit clubs need.

Best for: Boxes that only need CrossFit-specific workflows.

Z

Zen Planner

Zen Planner is management software for martial arts schools, gyms and affiliates, covering memberships, scheduling, billing, belt tracking and a member app. Pricing comes through a sales call rather than a price list on its website, belt tracking sits inside a paid, fitness-oriented suite, and the member app is built for booking and check-in rather than community.

FAQ

Common questions

What’s the best Mindbody alternative in the UK?

For an independent UK studio or gym that wants its own app, events in the same checkout and Direct Debit built in, Dyno is built for exactly that. Glofox prices only by quote and its app is built around booking classes. TeamUp is built for booking, with member booking largely web-based. ClubRight is built for the back office and Direct Debit collection, Gymdesk keeps members on a booking portal, and Wodify is built tightly around CrossFit.

How much does Mindbody cost?

Mindbody prices per location each month, on its Starter, Accelerate, Ultimate and Enterprise plans, with plan prices through its sales team. Extras such as a branded app are add-ons, and a new client who finds you through the Mindbody app carries a commission on their first purchase. Dyno’s plans start at £39 a month with unlimited members, every price is on our pricing page, and every new club gets 30 days of Dyno Pro free, with no card needed.

Which Mindbody alternatives take Direct Debit?

Of the platforms here, Dyno, Glofox, TeamUp and ClubRight collect Direct Debit. Dyno has it built in, through Stripe alongside card payments, at 1% + 20p capped at £4 per payment, and the money goes straight to your own bank account. TeamUp collects it through a payment gateway you connect.

Will we lose the clients who find us through the Mindbody app?

The Mindbody app only lists Mindbody customers, so your listing goes when you leave. Every Dyno club gets a profile on Explore, our directory of UK clubs, where people find you by activity and town and can book a class or buy a membership on the web, with no finder’s fee on the members it brings you.

Can I keep a branded app if I leave Mindbody?

Yes. Dyno builds your own app, published under your club’s name and icon on the App Store and Google Play, for £69 a month on any plan, plus a one-off £750 build. Without it, members use the Dyno app with your club’s own branded space inside it, with your feed, chat, timetable, events and passes, so you can start there and move to your own app when you’re ready.

How do I move from Mindbody to Dyno?

Check the notice terms in your Mindbody agreement first, then pick a date. We move your members, membership plans and records across for you, free, and your old system keeps collecting until each member has moved. Cards are set up again through Stripe as members activate in the app, Direct Debits held with GoCardless move across in a Bacs bulk change with nothing for members to sign, and other mandates are set up again in the app.
