What is Dyno?

Dyno runs court booking, coaching sessions and memberships for racket clubs with no platform fee: card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and UK Direct Debit through Stripe, and Dyno takes nothing on top of the processing rate. Members and parents book, pay and hear from the club in a native app, juniors included.

What is ClubSpark?

ClubSpark is venue software from ClubSpark Group Ltd in London, offered free to LTA-registered tennis venues and used by other national sports bodies. It handles court booking, coaching, memberships and competitions through each venue’s web pages. It’s paid for by a ClubSpark fee taken from every payment on top of Stripe’s or GoCardless’s, members book in a separate Booker app that can’t yet book for juniors, and a branded app costs extra.

The problem

Why clubs compare ClubSpark with Dyno

  • Free, paid for by every payment
LTA venues pay nothing up front because a ClubSpark fee comes out of each payment, on top of the payment provider’s, and on Direct Debit that share has no cap.
  • Juniors booked on the website
The Booker app can’t yet book on behalf of a junior, so parents go back to the website to book their children’s courts and coaching.
  • An app costs extra
A branded app for members is a paid premium feature, and ClubSpark is still rolling it out to venues in waves.
  • Medical notes in a text box
Each contact has a medical information field, and safeguarding questions are pointed to the LTA’s website rather than handled in the software.

The Dyno way

How Dyno approaches the same job

  • Courts by the slot
Each court keeps its own hours and slot length and is members-only or pay and play, bookable from the app or the club website, from Growth up.
  • Parents book for their children
Family accounts let a parent book and pay for courts, coaching and junior sessions for each child from one login in the app.
  • No cut of court fees
Dyno takes nothing from what members pay beyond the processing rate, whether it’s a court hour, a coaching block or a membership.
  • The club night in the same app
Box leagues, Americanos and club nights sit beside court booking in the app, with a club feed and messaging for finding a fourth.

Making the switch

What switching from ClubSpark involves

  • Export your members
ClubSpark exports members to a CSV file, though archived memberships take more than one export, so pull those out separately.
  • Courts and tiers set up once
Add each court with its hours and slot length, then the membership tiers that decide who can book which courts and when.
  • Coaching as bookable sessions
Group coaching, junior academies and clinics run as sessions with capacity caps, registers and a waitlist.
  • Payments move with care
Card authorisations re-establish through Stripe as members activate in the app. UK Direct Debits held with GoCardless move across in a Bacs bulk change with nothing for members to sign, and other providers’ mandates are set up again in the app. The dashboard shows who has moved across and who still needs a nudge.

FAQ

Switching from ClubSpark: common questions

Is ClubSpark free?
For LTA-registered venues and LTA-accredited coaches there’s no subscription. ClubSpark is funded instead by a fee taken from every payment on top of the payment provider’s own, and other venues contact ClubSpark for pricing. Dyno charges a monthly plan and no platform fee, only the processing rate on each payment.
Can parents book for their children?
Not in ClubSpark’s Booker app yet: its own help centre says booking on behalf of a junior isn’t available there, so parents book on the website. In Dyno a parent books and pays for each child from one login, in the app or on the club website.
Does Dyno work for tennis as well as padel?
Yes. Courts, slot lengths and membership tiers are yours to set, so a tennis club runs its own hours alongside padel or squash courts. Coaching groups, junior sessions and box leagues run as bookable sessions with capacity caps and waitlists.
How do Direct Debits move across from ClubSpark?
ClubSpark collects Direct Debit through GoCardless, so mandates move to Dyno in a Bacs bulk change with nothing for members to sign, and ClubSpark keeps collecting until each member has moved across.
Can we have our own branded app?
Members use the Dyno app on iOS and Android, with your club’s own space inside it, on every plan. An app under your club’s own name in the app stores is on Dyno’s Enterprise plan, much as ClubSpark sells its branded app as a premium feature.
What does court booking cost on Dyno?
Court booking is included from Growth. Plans are priced per club, not per court or per booking, so adding a court doesn’t change the bill, and every new club starts with 30 days of Pro free, with no card needed.
