This report summarises the UK club, gym and studio landscape as recorded in the Dyno Explore directory for July 2026. The dataset covers 2,342 listings spread across 209 cities. Below we highlight the leading cities, the most common categories, and how average ratings vary between them.
Where the UK’s clubs are
Sheffield leads the directory with 118 listings, followed by Nottingham (108) and Manchester (102). London sits fourth at 85, with Leeds (71) and Liverpool (55) rounding out the larger totals. Further down, a cluster of cities including Derby, Norwich, Stoke-on-Trent and Sunderland each record 39 listings, showing how closely grouped the mid-table cities are.

What kind of clubs they are
Martial Arts is the largest category with 787 listings, ahead of Gyms at 649. Dance (354) and Swimming (309) follow, while Sports (143) and Gymnastics (109) form a middle tier. Smaller categories include Fitness (39), Outdoor Activities (36), Running (29), Music (26) and Board Games (15). Together these figures show activity concentrated heavily in the top four categories.

How members rate them
Average ratings are high across all categories. Martial Arts tops the table at 4.91 from 767 rated listings, with Dance close behind at 4.89. Directory coverage grows over time, so month-on-month totals reflect both new clubs and new listings.
